Cru’s Letter

Outcomes are great but there’s something more important.

I bet if you think back to your top 3 goals from 5 years ago, you’ve already surpassed them. Maybe 5 years ago, those goals felt pretty far away but somehow in this moment, those goals are behind you but you still feel unsatisfied. Now, I don’t think wanting more is a bad thing UNLESS you think that each version of “more” is going to solve your life.

Your brain has been trained to find solutions to the problems you face but there isn’t a single problem you can solve that’ll make you feel complete.

Solving a problem simply opens the door for a new one to take its place.

So how exactly can you find peace when you’re not yet where you want to be?

By recognizing that you never will be. As soon as you reach that “ideal situation” you’re striving for, a new ideal will subconsciously be created. And that’s OKAY because when you set goals and achieve them knowing that the goals won’t complete you, you’re not disappointed by the fact that there’s more work to be done.

Once you can accept the fact that life is an ongoing project, your appreciation for life won’t be dictated by a set of goals but rather who you are in process towards them.

This is why “outcomes are great but there’s something more important.”

The real question is:

WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?

In pursuit of your goals, what kind of person do you become? How is your character and personality shaped?

Let’s say you want to lose 30 pounds. If all you’re focused on is that outcome, every day before you hit the goal will feel like a failure. However, if you realize the value of each day of the journey, you’ll be worlds more likely to even reach the goal while you focus on the thing that matters most… who you become.
