Here's what I've learned after 2,700 days of daily running
So you don't have to... but you should...

I’ve been doing this daily running thing for quite some time now and every time I cross another benchmark, I’m reminded of how I’m not that special.
I recently passed 2,700 days in my run streak (when you’re reading this, that will be about a month ago because I am admittedly on TOP of my writing schedule haha). It’s a cool feeling to know I’ve hit another hundred but it’s not as special as you’d think.
Realistically, it’s just another day one.
There’s something beautiful about a daily responsibility like this because no matter how long you’ve been running, there’s always tomorrow. It’s an interesting art of embracing the current moment AND having respect for the next day that you can’t avoid…
Quite the human experience.
You might think that big changes come from big moments but real change is made up of hundreds or thousands of days that felt like nothing really changed.
A 2,700 day run-streak is built with 2,700 individual days that contained just another run.
A major change in your physique comes from day after day of feeling like you look exactly the same when you look in the mirror.
A fundamental shift in the way you think comes from long periods of feeling stuck.
The most significant moments are the smallest. The most important days are the ones you might not even remember. Every day is day one.
I think in some ways we’ve been tricked into thinking that amazing achievements will happen over night. You can read a book about someone’s amazing life in one day. You can watch a movie about an incredible journey in just two hours. Along with that can come the expectation to feel gratified in your own life story within the same time frame…
And that is just not realistic.
Expect things to take longer than you’re comfortable with and then realize that you don’t need to be in a rush anyway.

P.S. To accept the long road to success is hard to do and I’ve personally been on that road for a long time.
In my youtube video from a couple weeks ago, I dive deep into the reality of that path and I think you’ll enjoy it. Check it out here:
