How to trick people into becoming better

The age old mission of genuine people

Cru’s Letter

“Show em what they want, give em what they need”

I wrestle with this quote pretty often (enough that I think I’ve written about this already) because it kinda sounds like you have to trick people into becoming better and I surely don’t want to subject everyone to that sentiment.

What do YOU want exactly?

  • A physique you’re proud of

  • Financial freedom

  • Friends that understand you

If you simply work for it, you’ll get it and I could pretend like I have the secret sauce that’ll magically make it happen but those outcomes are all just byproducts of something else…

Working on yourself.

If you took the time to realize you need more confidence, you’d approach getting a better physique with a very different mental posture.

If you got clear on your mission as a human, you’d approach money-making in a completely different way.

If you knew your deepest priorities like the back of your hand, you’d end up with a very different set of friends.

The things you want to achieve and have are all extensions of the self. Your body is an extension of you, your job is an extension of you, your relationships are an extension of you.

So, why as a society are we always focused on optimizing the extensions of the self instead of actually optimizing the self?

Answer: it’s harder to sell

It’s a lot easier to convince someone to spend their money on getting a six pack than it is to convince someone to think deeply.

This brings me back to my initial point… Is it actually best to show em what they want and give em what they need OR is there a better chance of changing the world when you empower people to dig a little deeper from the jump?
