Cru’s Letter
Going down the rabbit hole of ideas sure is my tendency but I wanted to take this letter as an opportunity to to discuss my 3 favorite lifestyle practices that will change your life.
Daily running
A daily run can represent a lot of things but in my opinion, there’s no better way to pay your respect to the human experience than a run (especially when you don’t want to). I’ve personally kept the promise to run every morning for over 7.5 years and it has changed my life in ways I can’t fully explain in one newsletter.
Running does not have to become your passion (it’s not mine) but when you can simultaneously become healthier AND respect yourself all from one promise/practice, it’s hard to beat.
Voice journaling/ podcasting
I’m not telling you to become a full time content creator by any means (unless you want to of course) but there is no better tool for building confidence and social fluency than practicing your speaking. Recording a 60sec video or voice note of yourself speaking on anything that comes to mind is a perfect way to do this. To take it a bit further, you could record a 10-20 minute podcast once a week with the same intent while challenging that speaking and thinking endurance.
I think a lot of people feel misunderstood and a lot of that comes from lacking the ability to explain oneself effectively. Communication is a skill like any other and practice will in fact make progress.
Cold exposure
If you feel victim to the stresses of life, you can train your mind just like you train your body and cold shower/ ice bath is the best way to do that in my experience. When you experience real cold exposure for the first time, it’s likely it’ll take your breath away and make you want to jump out of the water immediately and the thing you want to shoot for is the ability to stay calm under that overwhelm.
It’s a beautiful metaphor for life because when you face difficulty, you have the choice to stay in the fight and maintain composure or you can let it get the best of you and fall victim to it. If you want to come out on top in life, you have to face the discomforts that intimidate you and keep revisiting them.
Give these a try with some real consistency behind it and your life will have no other option than to change for the better.
