Here's the mindset shift you need around your lifestyle...

Is the garbage man content with being a garbage man?
It depends on the garbage man but I think it’s more than possible. Everyone has big dreams at some point but maybe a simple life feels more fulfilling than the risk of complexity for some folks. I personally don’t resonate with that but it doesn’t mean everyone feels the way I do.
I pose the question (and answer it lol) because I’m always curious whether people are truly content in lifestyles that I personally wouldn’t like. For me, it’s hard to imagine working for someone else but for others, the uncertainty of entrepreneurship couldn’t be more unattractive.
It’s always nice to acknowledge the differences we all have as individuals and at the same time, I hate the idea of someone acting content while longing for something more deep down.
Unfortunately, I feel like all too many people are acting because the pressures of the world weigh pretty heavily on the choices we make.
An important question we should all be asking ourselves is, “if there was no self-doubt or limiting belief, what kind of life would be ideal?'“
Most people might still build some limiting beliefs into their answer because it’s hard to avoid but I think it’s really important that you define for yourself what you really want.
I call this the entitled request as in, what would your most “entitled” self ask for from this lifetime?”
It can feel risky to act on the life you want because if you choose a simple path, maybe the world makes you feel bad for not shooting for high enough stars and if you shoot for the stars, people will say you’re unreasonable.
The only path that’s actually wrong is the one that doesn’t align with your purpose or priorities. In addition, the only person that can really verify whether or not that’s the case, is you.
In any case, don’t be afraid to start over. Get good at being a beginner because it allows you to branch out and figure out what excites you if you don’t already know.
As soon as you do know what excites or fulfills you, act on it. If that’s taking care of the neighborhood as a garbage man, beautiful. If it’s traveling the world or being an entrepreneur, beautiful.
It’s all up to you.
