The best relationship advice I've ever heard

Why is nobody talking about this?

Cru’s Letter

To be immune to getting hurt by someone… Strength or stupidity?

Stupidity. And I’ll tell you exactly why.

The way you become immune to hardship is by removing risk from your life. It seems like a safe route but we all know the saying “high risk, high reward.” It’s so true and it applies to nearly everything.

Think of the most successful people in the following categories:

  1. business

  2. sports

  3. relationships/family

What they all have in common is that they put the most on the line. The person with the “safe” job isn’t the one with utmost financial freedom. The best athletes in the world don’t take the “safe” route in their sport.

So, when it comes to building relationships, you would only deprive yourself of everything you’re truly looking for if you remove the risk of getting hurt.

You don’t find the person who is everything you could ever want by putting your guard up and never letting somebody in.

In an instagram video of mine, I explain that this concept is very similar to loosing your hearing. When you lose your hearing, it’s essentially a gradual resilience to loud noises over time.

Now, you could see this as strength because you won’t be as affected by loud noise but then… you can’t hear and that sucks.

Now I don’t want you going out into the world looking to get hurt or letting people walk all over you but DO consider this:

Indulge in the “risk” of being your authentic self.

This is a hard thing to do in today’s world but it’s the only fulfilling option.

Escapism or avoidance in relationships is pure weakness so show up fully and if that scares you, remember that anything worth pursuing probably will.

P.S. I know how hard it can be to actually show up as your authentic self.

Confidence is everything and when you don’t have it, you go through life feeling like an actor.

Luckily it doesn’t need to be this way but if you spend your life “going with the flow,” it remains your only option.
