Why does it always feel like the world is against you?

Well, that’s because it is.

You want to think deeply and challenge yourself to become better and you think everyone else will be on board? Funny…

If you feel like you’re alone in the world, I know exactly how you feel. For so many years of my life, I spent day after day seeking company within myself as it wasn’t easily found anywhere else.

I always had a small group of friends growing up but everyone lived so far away that it felt like an expedition just to have someone to hang out with. I would daydream about having the neighborhood friends and the constant feeling of presence from other people but instead I was met with silence. I remember the faint sounds of Full House playing in the living room as I kicked the soccer ball around with my good friend, the wall. Having that show playing was my little trick to make it feel like people were around…

As I got older, I developed a very strong sense of self, frankly because I hung out with that self so much haha but I started to wonder if I could ever find true understanding outside of just myself.

Now, I was always really social in school but even with thousands of people being around me, it amplified my loneliness when that understanding I was looking for was nowhere to be found. I often said, being by myself feels less lonely than being at school because at least when I’m by myself, I’m not misunderstood.

If all of this sounds familiar, you’re not actually alone…

You might be by yourself right now but that doesn’t mean you’re alone in the way you feel.

The deep thinkers are out there but they just happen to be harder to find and that includes you too. Someone out there wishes they knew someone like you but they go on believing that people like you don’t exist because they haven’t met you.

If today makes you feel lonely, you might find it hard to believe tomorrow could be any different but if you can dig deep and find an uncommon confidence in this feeling that the world being against you…

You’re gonna find that some people are waiting to be on your team.
