Cru’s Letter
*DON’T SCROLL*
Today’s letter starts with a test:
Which one of the following characteristics is needed in order to build the others?
Confidence
Self-awareness
Discipline
Good communication
Self-respect
All of these things are amazing but there’s one that must come first…
I’ll give you a hint: How can you change or improve something without knowing it first?
Answer: S0e0l0f0A0w0a0r0e0n0e0s0s (read between the zeroes lol I’m trying to be cryptic here)
How could you possibly become confident, disciplined, concise, and respectable without having self awareness?
Self awareness is the ability to accurately perceive yourself mentally, physically, and interpersonally. We all know the people that don’t hold the door, smell really bad, and get too close when talking to you and those are products of lacking self-awareness.
I always say that the people who are most self aware are the ones that question if they are. I spent my whole life growing up wondering if I was just a walking blind-spot which equipped me with a decent ability to know myself and how I show up.
So how exactly can you become more self aware?
One word: Curiosity.
Take a scientist for example. A scientist approaches observations and questions with a genuine desire to find a conclusion. When you become a scientist of your own mind, that curiosity will definitely lead to some awareness.
In my private mastermind, one of the member’s provided an observation of her “divided attention” and wanted to change that to give people her undivided attention more frequently. I took this observation through the scientific method on one of our live calls to highlight how self-awareness is quite literally a self study.

(excuse the chatgpt generated scientific method that is definitely missing “test” and also has a weird arrow)
By the way, if you have any interest in joining the mastermind, lessons like these live in reality, not just hypothetical ideas…

It’s important to know that you create your reality and self-awareness allows you to design the best one possible.
The more you know yourself and how others might perceive you, the more you can take advantage of the opportunities life throws at you.
Now, let’s get practical. Here are a few ways to build self-awareness:
Work on viewing yourself in the 3rd person. Don’t simply experience things but observe yourself experiencing them every so often so you can start to study your own mind.
Record yourself. This one might expose you to yourself a little bit but you’ll learn a lot from seeing how others hear your voice and watch you interact.
Intentional quiet time. Spending time with yourself is the best way to learn about yourself.
Now get out there and design the best reality possible with a full understanding of where it all starts (with you).
