Why I took an ice bath at 3:30am
There aren't to many things more important than...
Cru’s Letter
I woke up at 3:30 this morning and went straight to the ice bath…
Wanna know why?
Well, it’s not because I’m some psycho trying to prove how tough I am but rather I had a promise to keep and I don’t take that responsibility lightly.
My girlfriend said she needed a ride to the airport at 4:15am so that means waking up well before that to get done what I said I would: wake up by 5am, take an ice bath, and run.
Am I yawning while writing this? Yes.
Am I glad I kept the promise? Hell yes.
Would I get only 6.5 hours of sleep every night? Hell no.
Not every day is this hard and it’s not supposed to be BUT days like these are so valuable. When it comes to becoming the person you want to be, your identity relies on evidence to change. When your evidence consists of not only keeping your promises on the normal days but keeping them on the days where it’s the last thing you want to do…
It’s hard to deny that you’re evolving.
Every day gives you the opportunity to either build compelling evidence in the direction of betterment OR underwhelming evidence that proves that you don’t have much respect for your current and future self.
Poor evidence is incredibly sneaky because defaulting on your promises doesn’t seem to make much of a difference but long term, it compounds.
So, let’s make this simple:
If you want to respect yourself more, become more consistent and accountable to the expectations you set. If you tell yourself to do something and you don’t follow through, just know that your subconscious takes note of that.
Keeping a simple promise is a superpower in today’s world. It’s hard to do but life is hard no matter what… and that’s great news.
