100 seconds could change everything
As long as you have the time...

Count to 100. Actually do it.
Well maybe you don’t have 100 seconds to spare in your busy day (yeah you do, don’t lie).
Invite the intrusive thought to listen to me and just count. With each second that goes by, emphasize the number you’re on.
Don’t think of how many are left.
Don’t think of how long it’ll take to get to 100.
Just focus on each second as it goes by.
That 100 seconds is gonna feel like a long time and it honestly is. I suppose if life is a pain in the ass, slowing down time is the last thing you want but I think life is only so painful when you’re caught in the rush without a moment to be “present.”
Now this hallmark concept of being present gets kinda bastardized by social media, as do most things, but there’s a lot of merit in it’s true meaning.
I think being present is really just seeing a day or moment for what it really is.
Today will not be a solution to anything
Today might feel pointless
Today possibly just feels like a task list
So…
What is today? What is the present moment?
Well, I think it’s an opportunity to make life better through means that aren’t so obvious. If you made a million dollars today, it would be easy to see that things got a bit better but when a day consists of a couple failures and a few other things staying exactly the same, it’s hard to believe that life is getting better at all.
This is where the counting to 100 comes into play because if you deliberately made that kind of space in the middle of your busy day, you might be able to appreciate where you are for even just a little bit.
You don’t have to see the fruits of your labor today.
There’s no point trying to rush because you can’t. So maybe slow down instead.

P.S. One of my favorite practices for appreciating the moment is the No-Phone Dinner. It’s pretty simple. You put your phone away every night when you’re eating dinner.
This is one of the best ways to create space in your day to quiet the noise and realize that today doesn’t have to be a race to tomorrow.
Check out a vlog I posted that goes more in depth into this practice:
