Cru’s Letter
Did I just catch you thinking that your goals and ambitions are a “maybe?” (hi again)
That’s already a problem. Allow me to explain…
Lately I’ve had some conversations about religion, as I tend to do, and they usually go one of two directions:
A strong emphasis of faith
A strong emphasis of evidence
Faith, in my mind, is a belief based on something unprovable or that hasn’t happened yet.
The evidence perspective, on the other hand, uses what has already happened to construct a belief system.
Now, I wouldn’t consider myself traditionally religious but these two frameworks are both extremely present in my thought process…
My self-respect is heavily based on historical data that shows my dedication to myself (evidence) and I also have an incredible amount of (faith) in the fact that my life will be something amazing.
Your identity is evidence based but where you’re headed is faith based.
When your faith in something is strong enough, your reality literally changes to make it true. No matter the evidence of your past, faith can be the catalyst to change your behavior, environment, thoughts, etc.
When those things happen, new evidence is built, strengthening the belief.
Side note: the hyper-fixation on evidence when it comes to actual religious faith seems misaligned because if God is the fundamental truth, you wouldn’t be able to prove that through anything less fundamental (you can’t prove the reality of a container with the things that are inside of it).
Anyway, here’s where the first line of this letter comes into play (go read it again)…
If your faith in a great life is on “maybe” level, then your thoughts, behaviors, and environment with create a reality accordingly.
If you can believe that great life to be the undeniable truth, you’re bound to move differently.
I’ve made the loose conclusion that things are real because you believe they are. Maybe God is only real when you believe he is but does that make him any less real than anything else?
So whatever you want to be true in your life, I bet you can make it happen considering how customizable reality really is.
