How to respond when life gets hard

Without trying to ignore your emotions...

Cru’s Letter

A reminder to myself:

Your plans were made to be destroyed. You wanted things to go one way but life had a different idea and surely that’s gonna make sense one day…

It just might not be today.

At the time of writing this, my foot got crushed pretty bad at jiu jitsu class yesterday and I don’t think it’s life altering but it might be a few weeks before I’m back in full force with my training.

Things could always be worse but I’m allowed to be frustrated at the fact that I just started a new program, was loving my sprinting and jumping workouts, and was maybe approaching an injury free period of time…

But not so fast haha.

A lot of people like to project a sort of “toxic positivity” when it comes to things like this but personally, I don’t mind recognizing the way I actually feel. This emotion, of course, is not allowed to drive my decisions but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t pay attention to it.

When you give yourself the space to be genuine and authentic, you can find a lot of fuel in that headspace.

I’d be lying if I said I didn’t occasionally indulge in the “the world is against me” kind of thinking but something inside of me is proud to know that I’m still gonna win even with the whole world as my competition.

I’ll will say, the run this morning wasn’t the most fun considering my foot was hurting a bit but it sure does feel good to know I showed up. It’s days like these that are most important to be there for yourself because keeping a promise becomes even more valuable when it’s much harder to do.

I think a lot of folks see moments of hardship as an opportunity to make life easier but when life decides to be hard… let it.

P.S. We all seem to want the easy way but it just doesn’t work…
