Cru’s Letter
Look at these two lists of characteristics/attributes…
self love
knowing how to fight
being disciplined
multilingual
musical talent
having an expensive car
attractive partner
prestigious job
highly fashionable
moral superiority
Before you read on, try to guess the core difference between the two lists. If it wasn’t clear, list number 1 is much more valuable and I’ll explain why…
Think of the words or statements you would use to describe yourself. If you identify yourself by (or have confidence in) characteristics that are easily stolen, taken, given, or lost, your identity is likely to be fragile.
If your identifying characteristics are not easily stolen, taken, given, or lost, your confidence and sense of self is going to be much stronger.
Confidence and sense of self are primarily based on how much faith you can put in yourself. When you say you’ll do something, do you show up? Do you keep your promises? Do you have skills and abilities that are engrained into who you are instead of temporary “flexes”?
In life, you have many paths you can take and the ones that’ll be most often shoved down your throat leave you decorated only with attributes similar to those of list #2. If you truly want to build real confidence in yourself, I would advise you to take a different path.
Push yourself in ways that engrain valuable character into who you are. Don’t take the easy road because that road leads to unrealized potential. I suggest you fulfill the potential because that’s the only true road to peace.
You got this.
